Administration
Hendersonville High School (HHS), located at 123 Cherokee Road in Hendersonville, Tennessee, is a public high school serving grades 9–12 within the Sumner County Schools district. Established in 1941, the school has a rich history of academic excellence and community involvement. The school's mascot, the Commando, and its black and gold colors were adopted in 1941 when Vanderbilt University provided the first football team with used jerseys.
HHS offers a variety of academic programs, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and emphasizes both academic excellence and personal growth. The school has a strong tradition in athletics, competing in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) with state championships in various sports, including boys' soccer and cheerleading.
HHS enrolls approximately 1,447 students and is led by Principal Mel Sawyers. The school continues to uphold its motto, "A quality education for quality living," by fostering a learning environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
