CHESS CLUB

CODEMANDOS

Robotics Club, which has been named the Codemandos, is a new club that was created to foster student knowledge in engineering, computer science, and programming. The Codemandos will be competing in VEX Robotics competitions, as well as, smaller competitions within the club. 


DECA

This association of marketing students competes at the regional, state and national level in a series of events, written projects and team research competitions.

FFA

This national organization for Agriscience students boast the biggest chapter enrollment in Tennessee, even not one student member lives on a farm.  Students develop leadership skills and participate in competitions each year.

FILM CLUB

HHS Film Crew is designed to bring actors, writers, videographers and others interested in film together in an academic setting. Students are also invited to produce and submit films to HHS’s first official Film Festival in the spring.


FISHING CLUB

Sponsor(s): Coach West

This organization was developed to foster an appreciation and enjoyment in the sport of game fishing.  This club exists to introduce fishing to high school students as a lifetime sport & hobby. This club encourages an understanding and practical application of wildlife conservation while enjoying the natural setting of the environment.


FRENCH CLUB

Sponsor(s): Mrs. Flannery

French Club is for students who have taken French classes, are currently enrolled in class and/or plan to take French classes. We have meetings before school and have met after school depending upon student’s ability to attend meetings.

Members will be able to select and purchase club shirts during the year, plan and organize meetings and activities (e.g., movies, refreshments, restaurant outings, etc.), and generate changes to club participation, expectations, and outcomes.

There is a club fee of $10.00 which is payable by check or cash within the first two weeks of our initial meeting.


GAME COUNCIL

The game club provides an arena for young intellectuals to gather and exercise their minds without the use of class driven activities.  Members spread the fun & productive use of games throughout the school.


HOSA

HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

INTERACT

Interact is a service organization sponsored by the Rotary Club that promotes service above self. Interactors develop an network of friendships with local & overseas clubs and learn the importance of: developing leadership skills, personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness & respecting others.


INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY

The International Thespian Society (ITS), founded in 1929, is an honorary organization for high school theatre students located at more than 4,200 affiliated secondary schools across America, Canada, and abroad. The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. High school inductees are known as Thespians and non members working toward membership are known as apprentices.   ITS is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The EdTA shapes lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience.  The Thespian troupe is a subset of the theatre arts program. The International Thespian Society (ITS) is the student honor society, a separate student organization from the theatre department, and membership is earned. Any student may be a member of the theatre program, but only students who have been officially inducted and registered with the EdTA national office are members of the theatre program and the International Thespian Society.


JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE

JCL is open to all students enrolled in Latin. This group belongs to the state and national JCL and completes in both levels of competitions.

MODEL UN

In Model United Nations students act as delegations of countries that are members of the UN and debate topics of international importance at a mock United Nations Conference.  Students will write resolutions on behalf of the country they are representing that address problems or conflicts in the world.  Students will practice and use the skills of public speaking, debate, problem solving, and many other skills.  The conference is highly academic and includes possibly 800 students from middle Tennessee high schools.  It is a student run conference by the YMCA of Middle TN, Youth in Government Program. The 2017 YMCA Model UN Conference is November 3-5 in Murfreesboro.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY

National Art Honor Society is open to all art students who have had art for one year and have a 90% or above average in art. Students who are in Honor Society their senior year can graduate with cords. Art Honor Society signifies that their effort, attitude and sense of dedication in the field of art has consistently demonstrated the highest qualities in art scholarship, service and character.

OUTDOORS CLUB

The Commando Outdoor Club strives to teach all its members the value of the total outdoor experience.  The club will participate in several activities throughout the year.  Events such as hiking, backpacking, camping, shot gun, rifle, and pistol shooting as well as archery will be available to the club's members.  Commando Outdoors will also run Hendersonville High School's Varsity Archery Team.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

Come to photography club to take pictures, capture memories and edit your photos to perfection. To be a part of this come Fridays at 7:30 AM  in room 145 with Mrs.Kilby and go over everybody's photos they take over the week using the theme given. Sophia Sharp and Julia/Kat Kabler are willing to help everybody learn how to take awesome photos and edit their photos in Photoshop, all you have to do is contact us and we will see when we can meet to help you!

RUBIK'S CUBE CLUB

SCHOOL CLIMATE LEADERSHIP TEAM

This student organization, founded in the fall of 2015, is designed to help improve interactions between students, faculty and staff here at HHS. Activities include creating videos for advisory, facilitating school wide projects and generally spreading positivity and encouragement throughout the building. Gratitude Grams, Spring Clean and Senior Send Offs are our most successful projects. This year we hope to accomplish even more throughout the school year. We welcome anyone to apply that cares about creating a positive and uplifting environment here at our school.


SCIENCE CLUB

Science club focuses on the wonders of our world through physics, chemistry, and biology. Our club is looking for students who are not afraid to discuss their understanding of these sciences and who are willing to introduce new ideas or theories. Our organization is open to anyone with a passion for the sciences who takes enjoyment in exploring new possibilities through group discussion, experimentation, and research opportunities both inside and outside the school.

SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB

Sign learns the language and culture of the deaf community.  They work to create a bridge between the deaf and hearing communities. The club performs songs & poems at various places in the community. They organize & work at events that highlight the arts & sign language.


SKILLS USA

This club seeks to unite all students in trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations classes. It serves to develop leadership through participation in educational, vocational and social activities.

SOCIEDAD HONORARIA HISPANICA

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Any secondary school student who has maintained an A or B average in the study of Spanish or Portuguese for a minimum of three semesters and is in the 10th grade or higher is eligible to be a member of the SHH.  It should be remembered that the SHH is an honor society for those students of high academic achievement.In the spirit of our mission, each year the SHH contributes more than $160,000 in awards to student members of the SHH. The most prestigious of the awards are college scholarships given to 60 high school senior SHH members and the Student Travel Awards given to 24 high school junior SHH members.

SPANISH CLUB

The Spanish Club’s mission is to connect students with each other, the community, and the language and culture of Spanish-speaking countries in a FUN and MEMORABLE way. The club shares Hispanic culture by hosting events like Restaurant Raids, Salsa Night & parties for common celebrations. We also sponsor tutoring for students in Spanish I & II students.


STARS PEER LEADERS

STARS Peer Leaders are a group of students who are committed to being positive role models and are willing to offer support to other students for making healthy life choices.  They work in our middle schools and in our high school to do prevention education about alcohol/drugs/tobacco and bullying.  They develop activities for Red Ribbon Week and Prom Promise.  In order to become a STARS Peer Leader you must be a junior or senior and complete an application and an interview.  Approximately 20 students are selected each year.     


TRAVEL CLUB

Travel club’s goal is to bring cultural understanding about different areas of the world.  We learn about food, dance and educational opportunities. Trips are also sponsored annually & this summer we will travel to Iceland.


YOUNG WOMEN’S STUDY CLUB

Sponsor(s): Mrs. de Araujo Jorge & Mrs. Watts

The Young Women’s Studies Club was formed in the spring of 2017 to empower young women and to celebrate women’s roles in history and contemporary society.  We will be volunteering with women’s organizations, inviting speakers from the community, and facilitating book clubs. Membership in the club is not exclusive to females. Meetings are typically held once or twice a month Mondays after school.
